Associate
Jason L. Hurst joined Beermann Swerdlove LLP as an
associate attorney within the Family Law department after having
initially started his own practice concentrating in the areas of
Family Law and Criminal Defense. During this time Mr. Hurst
participated in many bench and jury trials on felony cases ranging
from DUI to 1st degree murder. Mr. Hurst received his Juris
Doctorate from Indiana University in 2009 having been named to the
Dean's Honors List. During his time at Indiana Law, Mr. Hurst
gained experience in the area of Family Law, first serving as a law
clerk for Illinois Appellate Court Justice, John O. Steele, who
during the summer of 2008 was a trial judge in the Circuit Court of
Cook County, Domestic Relations Division. Mr. Hurst was
responsible for providing research and writing for Justice
Steele. In the following summer of 2009, Mr. Hurst worked as
a law clerk at Beermann Swerdlove LLP, primarily working in the
Family Law Department. Mr. Hurst assisted in the handling of
matters relating to divorce, custody issues, parentage/child
support proceedings and other Family Law related matters. Mr.
Hurst gained valuable experience both with Justice Steele and
through his time at Beermann Swerdlove LLP in interacting directly
with clients and senior members of the Firm.
As an associate in the Firm, Mr. Hurst is responsible for
individual client representation in the Family Law department, as
well as negotiating matters pertaining to the areas of divorce,
custody, parentage and post-dissolution matters. Mr. Hurst
also assists James M. Quigley and John M. D'Arco in the Sports and
Entertainment Family Law Division of the Firm, where the Firm's
representation is focused upon representing high-profile and
high-wealth individuals requiring a particluar sensitivity and
discretion in dealing with publicity and media issues, as well as
sophisticated financial matters.
Mr. Hurst is currently involved in various Bar Associations
and other networking and civic organizations such as Access Hope,
Inc. which aims at mentoring and uplifting at risk youth
where he is an active member.
