Kathryn L. Mickelson has worked at Beermann Swerdlove LLP since 2004, first as a law clerk assisting the Family Law and Litigation Departments and now as a Family Law Associate Attorney.  Ms. Mickelson practices exclusively in the area of Family Law, handling all types of complex domestic relations cases, including divorce, custody, parentage and domestic violence issues.  Ms. Mickelson has participated extensively in multi-million dollar cases, helping her clients navigate through the complexities of family law cases, advising them on their rights on a myriad of legal topics and helping them reach resolutions which are in their best interests and that of their families.  Ms. Mickelson is also a certified Mediator, having completed extensive training at the Chicago-based Center for Conflict Resolution;  earned a Certificate in Litigation and Alternative Dispute Resolution from   Chicago-Kent College of Law; and mediated multiple small claims cases for the Circuit Court of Cook County, Illinois.  Ms. Mickelson was recently named a Rising Star by Super Lawyers Magazine for 2010, a designation reserved for the top 2.5% of all Illinois attorneys under 40.

Prior to practicing law, Ms. Mickelson was employed in the public relations industry for seven years, managing the complex communication needs of many nationally recognized consumer products and services companies.
