About Matthew D. Elster

Matthew Elster concentrates his practice in the area of civil appellate litigation, and has successfully represented clients in the prosecution and defense of appeals in Illinois’s reviewing courts.

Mr. Elster also represents individuals in all stages of litigation in state and federal courts.

Mr. Elster currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Appellate Lawyers Association and is a regular contributor to Cases Pending, its quarterly catalogue of cases pending before the Illinois Supreme Court.

Mr. Elster joined Beermann LLP, in 2012, after serving as a law clerk to the Honorable Joseph Gordon of the First District Appellate Court, where he drafted numerous judicial decisions in all areas of the law, including divorce and custody matters, business and contract disputes, personal injury, professional liability, evidentiary issues, and criminal law.

During law school, he served as the executive editor of the Journal of Legislation, represented local clients facing mortgage foreclosure at the Notre Dame Legal Aid Clinic, and fought in the university’s annual Bengal Bouts boxing tournament.
