“Being the best advocate for the client doesn’t just require a strong command of the law; it requires constant communication with the client about their needs and empathy regarding the difficulties clients and their families face throughout a divorce.”

About Vaughn J. Richardson

Vaughn J. Richardson’s practice primarily deals with divorce and family law related issues, including division of property, maintenance, child support, allocation of parenting time and decision-making, domestic violence, and orders of protection. Her experience in the Zeke Giorgi Legal Clinic in Rockford, Illinois enables her to counsel clients about their safety as well as how to find the path to a new normal after experiencing domestic violence instances.

Vaughn is devoted to practicing family law as conscientiously, ethically, and expeditiously as possible. She understands that clients’ livelihoods are at stake when it comes to allocating property, decision-making capabilities, and time spent with children. Appreciating how high-risk divorce can be for a client, Vaughn is a zealous advocate, but is also a realist when it comes to tempering her approach to advocacy.

Vaughn J. Richardson focuses her practice in Family Law Litigation as well as Domestic Violence. She earned her law degree from Northern Illinois University College of Law, where she was admitted with the Dean’s Merit Scholarship for her academic achievements. She graduated cum laude, and upon graduation was awarded the Outstanding Contribution to Trial Advocacy Award.

Throughout Vaughn’s numerous semesters clerking with a suburban family law practice in Lisle, Illinois, she has assisted with several high-profile divorce matters where she conducted extensive legal research, drafted numerous pleadings and agreements, and assisted with complex discovery matters involving finances.

She spent her final year of law school utilizing her 711 License at the Zeke Giorgi Legal Clinic in Rockford, Illinois, where she represented low income and indigent clients who were victims of domestic violence. While there she helped to secure orders of protection for victims of physical and emotional abuse and their children.
