About Victoria R. Paton
Victoria R. Paton understands that every family is different, and thus, it is important for a lawyer to have the ability to represent each and every client with their specific needs and circumstances in mind. With a diverse background in family law, minor guardianship matters, and assisted reproductive technology, Ms. Paton is an expert in adapting to her client’s needs.
Focusing her practice at Beermann entirely on family law, Ms. Paton guides her clients through their legal matters with excellent communication, compassion, and top-notch legal expertise.
Victoria R. Paton was born and raised in the Toronto suburbs. She completed the dual Juris Doctor program with Michigan State University College of Law and the University of Ottawa Faculty of Common law in Ottawa, Canada, earning a Juris Doctor on both sides of the border. Ms. Paton is proud to be an internationally licensed lawyer, earning her credentials to practice in both Illinois and Ontario, Canada. Ms. Paton was involved in various student organizations, including the Canadian Journal of Women and the Law, throughout her time at her two law schools, graduating with double Honors and a plethora of awards for her involvement in her law school communities.
Despite being skilled in several legal practice areas, Ms. Paton’s legal career has been focused on family law since its inception. Ms. Paton is a skilled litigator, who has experience in the courtroom that far exceeds her years in legal practice – she rounds her litigation skills out by also being a compelling and proficient legal writer and drafter.
Representing clients in all areas of family and matrimonial law, Ms. Paton strives to make the complexities of our legal system approachable for her clients. Ms. Paton recognizes that the law can be intimidating, particularly during a period of transition for a family unit. She works tirelessly to ensure her clients are given all the tools available to determine the best outcome for their families, and then zealously advocates to accomplish said outcomes.
