Ishtar M. Baba

“The practice of family law requires the unique ability to aggressively advocate for client’s legal rights while maintaining compassion and cognizance of the deeply personal nature of the proceedings.”

About Ishtar M. Baba

Ishtar M. Baba focuses her practice primarily on divorce and family law related settlement and litigation issues, including the negotiations of marital settlement and parenting agreements, financial disputes, such as property division, child support, and maintenance, as well as a wide range of other divorce and family related issues.

Prior to her admission to the Illinois bar, Ms. Baba was a law clerk with Beermann LLP’s prestigious divorce and family law division. During her clerkship, she attended The John Marshall Law School where she made the Dean’s List and was selected as a teaching assistant in a legal writing course. She was also the recipient of the CALI Excellence Award in family law, which is the award designated for the highest academic achiever in a given law course.

Although Ms. Baba considers herself a strong advocate for her clients, she has an equal level of compassion that allows her to understand her client’s needs on a personal level and on a case by case basis. Her passion for helping people overcome difficult situations was realized well in advance of her legal career. For several years, Ishtar sat on the board of directors of a non-profit organization where she and her co-directors oversaw an operation that distributed weekly groceries to hundreds of families in need, at a food pantry in Chicago’s Rogers Park neighborhood.
